March 14, 2019 - Open and Closed Circuit Cooling Tower

The most efficient method of heat rejection for industrial and commercial systems is an open and closed circuit evaporative cooling tower. This seminar will explore the carious aspects of applying these systems for high performing cooling systems including selection, layout, noise, and sequences of operation.

 

March 21, 2019 - Cooling Tower Start-Up and Maintenance

Evaporative cooling towers have specific start-up and maintenance requirements. This is especially important in the inspection and recommissioning after seasonal operation idling. The session will cover those requirements and showcase some of the options available for making operation and maintenance easier.

 

May 7th (rescheduled from April 11), 2019 - Hydronic Basics

This seminar will cover the basic elements of a hydronic system including pump sizing, air control, and expansion tanks. It will also touch on some advanced topics such as variable speed pumping.

 

May 8, 2019 - High-Efficiency Burner Retrofit - Energy Efficiency Series

In recent years there have been many advances in power burner technology. The seminar will go into the specifics of what goes into a successful retrofit and the real world benefits owners can benefit from with improved efficiency, reliability and pollution control from upgraded technology.

 

May 21, 2019 Expo - Product Exposition (On Site Only at BJM)

The product exposition will feature the following courses

June 11, 2019 - VFD Application and Building Power Quality Issues

Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) have been a staple of HVAC systems for decades, and with popular utility rebate programs they have become even more popular in recent years. This seminar will delve into the techniques and products available to predict and mitigate building power quality. 

 

June 20, 2019 - Boiler Controls and ECM Pumps - Energy Efficiency Series

This seminar will showcase the recent improvements to high efficiency boilers controls and high efficiency Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) pumps. It will explore how the marriage of these technologies can work together seamlessly to form a high performance hydronic system.

 

July 11, 2019 - Venting - Materials of construction and design

Venting of combustion equipment is essential to appliance operation and occupant safety. From Category I to Category IV to Common Venting appliances, each flue system has its own challenges in terms of pressures, temperatures and toxicity. This session will cover the general design of several of the applications and the various materials capable of handling each one. 

 

July 23, 2019 - Venting - Application and vent assisting

In follow-up to the Construction and Design seminar, this discussion will explore how many boiler installations exceed the flue vent limitations established by the appliance manufacturer. This seminar will provide an overview of the practical tools available to successfully contend with venting installations. 

 

August 1, 2019 - Hydronic System Start-up, Commissioning and Balancing - Energy Efficiency Series

Proper start-up and balancing are a necessary step in a successful hydronic system. This seminar will cover the tools available for flow balancing and air removal. It will also cover the basic control strategies available for variable speed pumping. 

 

August 15, 2019 - Boiler Start-up and Tuning

Boilers represent a large capital investment and are worthy of special attention. Initial setup and periodic adjustment are crucial to longevity and efficiency. This seminar will discuss the steps involved with set-up, operation and monitoring of various types of gas, oil, and multi-fuel boilers. 

 

September 18, 2019 - Energy Retrofit and Savings - Energy Efficiency Series

Energy efficiency offers many rewards to a system owner ranging from environmental impact to just saving money. Mulcahy Company has many proven solutions to improve the operation of most systems including but not limited to variable speed drives, linkage-less burners, economizers and high efficiency boilers. This session will explore the key elements to success when employing these various options. 

 

October 10, 2019 - Domestic Hot Water Systems

There are numerous options available to satisfy the need for domestic hot water. From commercial buildings to multi-unit high-rises, each installation has it’s own unique water demands and installation requirements. This seminar will analyze the sizing, implementation operation of different system types and heat sources.​
